I've been writing recently (surprise surprise) and I've been thinking of strategies for coming up with "unusual" names (not like Eric or Sally.)
When I need a new name, one thing I do is type words (that fit the character) in to google translate and select different languages until I find one I like.
Another technique I use is just taking names from other languages. Obviously you don't want to take a really popular name like Sakura (which btw means cherry blossom), because then people will just think you're stupid, but other more obscure names are awesome!
The last technique I'm going to tell you about is extremely simple: just take a name you like and switch a couple letters, or add some on. TADAH! Cool name! It's really easy, I do it all the time. :) Happy Writing!
If you want me to review a certain book, contact me via the boxes below and I will try my best to read and review it! :)
Those of you who are REALLY into hp have probably already found this, but for some of the newbies out there (welcome) I suggest this TOTALLY AWESOME youtube story. A Very Potter Musical. When you're done with that, there is also A Very Potter Sequel and some other stuff. You should also check out Harry Potter in 99 Seconds by Paint.
